Munir Ahamed NBAPA Contract Advisor
Growing up in Chicago, a few miles away from the United Center in the 90s during the peak Michael Jordan Bulls era made Munir instantly fall in love with basketball at a young age. As a pretty shy kid, He always found it easier to make friends at the park playing pick up games. The ball and an empty court have always provided him peace of mind and an escape from the outside world. He played all 4 years at a high academic Chicago Public School, Northside Prep. He was also fascinated by other aspects of the game ever since a young age. Munir used to collect trading cards and would memorize stats or random facts about players. Once Munir got to 8th grade he became extremely intrigued by the high level of basketball talent across the city.
Munir would make his parents buy the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times almost every day so he could keep up and follow teams from across the city and state. Munir took public transportation all over town just to see highly touted players or teams play and this would carry over throughout high school when he had free time from his games and practices. Munir knew his days of playing competitively were ending after high school but he knew he wanted to stay around the game. Munir spent some time as a manager for the men's team and a practice player for the women's team at Northern Illinois University. Since finishing school He's currently working in the accounting and finance world and has also spent three years coaching AAU basketball between Chicago, IL, and Austin, TX.
Munir decided to step away from coaching during the pandemic but has always gravitated towards the game. Whether it was keeping in touch with former players, reading biographies /memoirs of former NBA players, watching podcasts or old games on YouTube. Munir has also attended high school and AAU games and connected with different coaches, directors, tournament organizers, and new players. All of this paired with his love for building and maintaining relationships led Munir to pursue becoming an NBPA agent. Munir looks forward to taking his love for the game and connecting with others to the next level as an agent for Vibe World!
